A psychologist for Brickell teens, young adults, and families
Dr. Emily Wald, Ph.D. sees adolescents, college students, young adults, and families from Brickell at her Coral Gables office, a straight run south on US-1, and by secure video between commitments.
Getting here from Brickell
By car
The office is at 1390 S Dixie Hwy, Suite 1305, in Coral Gables, about six miles south of Brickell along US-1. Weekday sessions run until 7:00, which leaves room for an appointment after school or work.
By Metrorail
Brickell station sits on the same Metrorail line that runs along US-1 toward the office, a practical option for students and young adults who prefer not to drive.
By video
Secure telehealth fits a demanding week. Many Brickell clients hold most sessions by video from home and come in person when that matters most.
Support through the launch years
The years between high school and full independence bring a lot at once: college applications, a first semester away, a first job, a first apartment. Anxiety, low mood, focus problems, and perfectionism often surface just as the old structure falls away.
Dr. Wald works with young adults directly while respecting their privacy, and involves parents when the young person wants that. Because she is licensed in Florida and Maryland and holds PSYPACT authorization, care can often continue when a student leaves for school.

Focus, organization, and follow through.

How it works
A free 15 minute consultation
A short call with Dr. Wald to describe what is happening and decide together whether her practice is the right fit, and whether to start in person or by video.
A first appointment focused on understanding
Parents and, when appropriate, the young person share history, strengths, and what a hard day looks like. Dr. Wald explains what she sees and what she recommends.
A plan that includes the family
Weekly sessions blend skills for your child with guidance for parents, and Dr. Wald coordinates with pediatricians and schools when that helps.
Questions from Brickell families
Yes. Dr. Wald works with children, adolescents, college students, and young adults, and adjusts her approach to each stage of life.
Only as much as the young adult chooses. Many young adults invite a parent into some sessions, and others prefer to work on their own. Dr. Wald talks this through at the start.
Often, yes. Telehealth can continue in Florida, Maryland, and PSYPACT participating states. Dr. Wald confirms the rules for a specific state on the consultation call.
The practice is out of network. Dr. Wald provides superbills that families can submit for out of network reimbursement, and HSA and FSA cards can often be used. Details are on the fees page.
