Telehealth therapy

Dr. Wald offers secure video sessions for children, adolescents, and young adults. Through PSYPACT authorization, she sees clients in Florida, Maryland, and more than 40 participating states, so quality care reaches you at home.

Virtual sessions use the same evidence-based methods as the Coral Gables office. They are HIPAA-compliant and confidential, and especially convenient for college students, families who travel, or children who split time between homes.

What you need:

  • A private space where your child can talk freely
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A device with a camera and microphone

Fees and insurance

Free consultation

Every family begins with a free 15 minute phone call. Dr. Wald reviews your needs, discusses fees, and answers your questions before scheduling.

Session rates

Fees are shared and discussed upfront, so there are never surprises. Payment is due at the time of service. Major credit cards, HSA, and FSA cards are accepted.

Out-of-network billing

The practice does not bill insurance directly. After each session you receive a superbill to submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. Dr. Wald is glad to help you check your benefits first.

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before scheduling. View full fee details

Common questions

A relaxed conversation, not a test. For younger children, parents usually attend so Dr. Wald can hear your concerns and history together. With teens and young adults, sessions often begin one on one. You will talk through what brought you in and what you are hoping for, then leave with a clear sense of the plan and whether the fit feels right. There is no pressure to commit beyond that.

It depends on your child's age and goals. With younger children, parents are closely involved and often join part of each session, because the changes that matter most happen at home. With teens and young adults, individual sessions stay private to protect trust, while Dr. Wald checks in with parents at agreed points.

There is no fixed timeline. Some families come for a focused stretch of roughly eight to twelve sessions around a specific concern; others stay longer for deeper support. Dr. Wald reviews progress with you regularly, so you always know how things are going and when it may be time to step back.

Dr. Wald asks for at least 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel. Because your appointment time is reserved just for you, sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are charged the full fee. Life happens, so reach out as early as you can and she will try to find another time.

Yes. Confidentiality is a foundation of effective therapy. Dr. Wald reviews its boundaries with both parents and the child at the start of care. Parents receive updates on themes and progress, but the specific details a child or teen shares in session stay private. The only exceptions involve safety concerns, which are discussed together before treatment begins.

If your child is struggling with persistent worry, sadness, behavioral changes, difficulty at school, trouble with friendships, or reactions bigger than the situation calls for, those are all good reasons to reach out. You do not need a diagnosis or a crisis to begin. A brief consultation can help you decide whether therapy is the right next step.

Supporting your child in therapy

Starting therapy is a meaningful step, and the support you offer at home makes a real difference. A few ways parents can help:

  • Keep it simple. Frame therapy as a safe place to talk and learn, not a punishment.
  • Stay consistent. Regular attendance builds trust and momentum. Keep the same weekly time.
  • Follow through at home. Practice the small strategies Dr. Wald suggests between sessions.
  • Be patient. Progress often shows up gradually, in better sleep or calmer mornings, before your child names it.
  • Ask questions. Check in with Dr. Wald anytime about how things are going.

What to expect at different ages

Young children

Sessions use play, stories, and creative activities, with parents closely involved. Progress shows up at home and at school as your child builds confidence and learns to manage big feelings.

Adolescents

Therapy becomes more conversational and collaborative. Teens work directly with Dr. Wald while parents receive regular updates, building coping skills, identity, and ways to navigate school, friendships, and family life.

College students and young adults

Sessions are insight-focused and direct, often via telehealth. Work centers on stress, relationships, and life transitions. PSYPACT authorization means sessions can continue across state lines.

Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not failure. Therapy is an investment in your child's future, and every family deserves clear information and genuine support from the very first conversation.
